Now, a new wearable earplugs called Hush,created by three engineering students who are all named Daniel (Daniel "Ewok" Lee, Daniel Synn and Daniel "Chesong" Lee) from the University of California, San Diego, is using smart- device technology to do just that — at least when it comes to hearing.
The smart earplugs, which use noise-canceling technology to ensure a disturbance-free sleep by eliminating sounds such as loud neighbors, snoring partners and noisy streets., work in concert with your smartphone through an associated app which is compatible with both iOS and Android devices with bluetooth 4.0 enabled.
It also notifies you and you alone,that way when your alarm goes off, you don’t wake up anyone else.
Daniel "Ewok" Lee told The Huffington Post;
"The basic value of Hush is 'block out sound. Hear what you need,That was why Hush was born'"Sound-eliminating foam, combined with noise-masking frequencies emitted by the in-ear plug (at up to 30 to 40 decibels) for up to 10 hours,results in what the creators claim is a noise reduction of up to 70
decibels.So whether you’re trying to sleep through a noisy cross-country or airplane flight,the smart earplugs aim to offer a simple remedy for achieving silence
“If we had to classify ourselves,we would say that we are creating a wearable — not headphones,”Lee said when asked about comparisons to noise-canceling headphones.
With the Hush app, you control which alerts you let through while you’re asleep. Silence unimportant notifications but still hear your alarm or emergency phone calls
The Kickstarter campaigned on Nov. 12 with a goal of $100,000, already raised almost $300,000 as of Wednesday in the same week.
Hush earplugs will retail at about $149, and their estimated delivery is spring 2015. The Daniels are working to make them compatible with more devices.
